Obviously, your telephony system is going to be the communication front for your entire organization. You want to give your callers a great first impression. If, for some reason, your local PBX isn’t performing to its full potential or available 100% of the time, you’ll lose the customer! Avoid the significant financial investment, configuration complexity, unexpected maintenance costs, and high licensing expenses of modern VoIP PBX systems — it is much more economical to share the responsibility with an organization with years of proven telecommunication experience, vast knowledge, and valuable resources to your organization.
Our FirstVoice PBX™ VPS is a scalable, custom, and complete IP telephony server hosted service and maintenance solution built for small businesses that wish to gain the benefits of advanced call routing capabilities and features. Productivity tools for end-users embrace remote and diverse work styles and enable them to communicate fluidly.

Private, Fully Custom, Remotely Hosted PBX
Because our FirstVoice PBX™ VPS business phone service is fully hosted, provisioned, and routed through our high-bandwidth, gigabit connectivity with true Tier1 providers as well as redundant peered and local circuits to ensure consistent and reliable network communications. Connectivity is multi-homed and designed to handle for adverse situations — we keep your VPS-PBX phone server online, despite shifting peering agreements and relationships or peer outtages. In addition to our VPS-PBX hosting, custom network and telephony integration design, actual installation, set-up and user training are all services within reach and available with each customer engagement.
From small systems with only a few lines and phone extensions to larger organizations with many lines and hundreds of extensions, our VPS-PBX virtual server provides a total service solution to meet your telephony needs today and will grow tomorrow with no upfront server hardware investment — just buy the phones, from us or from anywhere you choose!
Plans are provisioned according to three ratios, 1:4, 1:2, and 1:1. This correlates into 25%, 50%, and 100% minimum CPU at all times, burstable up to 100% depending on the activity of other guests. Performance is nearly that of a regular dedicated host (1-2% overhead), with the added benefits of complete portal and high-availability network integration and management. Migration into a “dedicated” server is seamless, and in most cases, requires no change in IP and a period of downtime lasting only minutes.
“[Business] applications are sharing-intensive, and the cloud is all about sharing and replication. An application that does not leverage the power of the cloud is not going to wow anybody.”
-Google CEO, Eric Schmidt
What not just install a PBX system locally?
With a system setup locally in your office, there are many points of failure. With the snow storm of 2010, earthquake in Haiti, or hurricane Katrina of 2005, we’ve all learned that putting “all your eggs in one basket” could risk wiping out your business unexpectedly and almost overnight!
- Internet Provider goes down because of backbone outage or other interruption in service
- Electrical power outage and no backup power solution
- Phone lines go offline due to car accident, emergency maintenance, or natural disaster
- UPS finally dies after extended power outage
- Internet connection does not have adequate bandwidth to handle several calls at once without severe deterioration in quality
- Flooding, mudslides, or snow fall causes your office to be unreachable
- Robbery, vandalism, or employee theft results in loss of critical equipment
- Hardware fails on your onsite dedicated server, ie. HDD, Power Supply, CPU
While any one of these potential issues can be addressed to procure a more reliable situation (extra server, several redundant Internet providers, multiple office locations, etc.), it will certainly cost a lot more money than you are probably willing to spend and still may not protect you from all other potential liabilities. But with our FirstVoice PBX™ Hosted Virtual IP Phone System service from Phonewire, we share with you the advanced connectivity, hardware, and software resources we already have in place, custom designed and maintained for you at a much lower cost than could be achieved independently.
When you have complex and sophisticated equipment in-house, the need for employing costly technical personnel for maintenance purposes becomes unavoidable. Technology is changing at such a rapid pace that obsolescence can occur quickly, requiring upgrades and replacements.
Our FirstVoice PBX™ VPS presents an elegant solution to all these problems and brings several environmentally friendly dimensions as well. In addition, businesses can save considerable amount of time, effort and money by embracing hosted IP-PBX solutions which deploy virtual hardware and software resources. Saving money and the environment go hand-in-hand with our FirstVoice PBX™ Hosted IP-VPS solution.

What advantages are there to using the VPS-PBX virtual server solution?
- Several redundant Internet Providers (in state-of-the-art datacenters)
- Guaranteed backup power (generators, redundant power supply)
- 4Mbps Data Pipe for plenty of bandwidth
- Fast and reliable replacement of failed parts, no cost to you
- Phone extensions can be located anywhere — worldwide!
- Available 99.95% minimum, plus 24-hour on-call emergency personnel
In the case that you do suffer an interruption in service (power, Internet, etc.) at your office location, the VPS-PBX system will still answer and handle all of your incoming calls! Depending on your VPS-PBX configuration, those calls could be forwarded to a cellular phone, an alternate landline, or dumped into the voicemail system. Once services are restored at the office, everything bounces back to normal and you can retrieve any voicemails left during the outage. How does that sound for reliable service?
By avoiding dedicated servers in-house, businesses save on capital investment. This is the primary reason why major corporate are moving to the software as a service (SAAS) model. Software as a service is becoming popular simply because of the resultant savings. The cost of initial outlay on infrastructure in the form of data centers, servers, and cooling equipment can be significant! Not to talk of ongoing maintenance, required staffing, expensive user-licenses, and often mandatory upgrades. Our hosted IP-PBX solution is designed to obviate capital expenditure.
Distribution of Network Operations
With network operations in three key geographic regions within the continental United States as our East Coast, Central, and West Coast network operation centers (NOC), each location serves the primary function of minimizing overall latency and intermediate hops as network traffic reach their destinations.
Customers who purchase our VPS-PBX virtual server hosting services plans are given the opportunity to request which NOC will best serve your networking situation, minimizing additional layers of network infrastructure and latency to end-points and their ITSPs to maximize quality and consistent content and media delivery.
Eco-friendly Saves Some Green
Hosted IP-PBX solutions have become popular because of their eco friendly nature. Traditional PBX telephone systems and PSTN networks require dedicated hardware. These old generation networks are inefficient and waste energy in the form of heat. One may think that the loss in energy is too insignificant to be taken seriously, but when we consider a typical business environment with fifty or hundreds of telephone sets, it all adds up to a considerable energy and financial loss!
Hosted IP-PBX solutions have the advantage because servers managing the network are specially designed to be energy efficient. IP-PBX data center environments are designed to minimize inefficiencies which may creep in due to idle capacity. State of the art monitoring devices manage and control server utilization, thereby cutting down on electrical consumption and excess heat generation by power sources and equipment. This saves energy and reduces carbon emission — so while saving the environment, you save some green.
